Since its historical emergence in the mid-70s, electronic dance music has always had the main goal of making people dance by careful choice of songs played, and the technique of DJ’s’, by the way of mixing music, in order to create an unbroken and mechanical trip to elevate the dancers to a mechanic state of trance.

10. Global Gathering

The Global Gathering takes place every year in the first week of July in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England and is, according to the Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren, “one of the essential festivals.”

It attracts around 250,000 people and is known to have the most incredible LED screens in the world. The lineup includes big names like Steve Angello, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Sasha, John Digweed and Ferry Corsten.

One of the largest outdoor festivals in Europe The Nature One happens in Kastellaun, Germany.

The festival is annual and lasts three days, always in the first week of August. The lineups include artists like Paul Van Dyk, Markus Schulz, Alex Morph, Ferry Corsten and many others.

8. Dance Valley, “The Woodstock of Dance”

The Dance Valley happens in one night, every year, during the summer dutch and attracts more than 50,000 people.

Like most Dutch events, the focus is trance music, but there are areas dedicated to hardstyle and other electronic variations.

The DV is famous for its after parties and some editions have over 150 DJs, including Steve Angello, Cosmic Gate, Above & Beyond, John O ‘Callaghan and Yoji.

7. Ultra Music Festival

It is an electronic music festival outdoors that happens every year in Miami during the Winter Music Conference, always in March.

It is a one night event with presentation of 200 artists and an audience of over 50,000 people.

Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Tiesto and Ferry Corsten are names who have performed in this festival.

6. Monster Massive

Monster Massive is an annual festival of electronic music whose theme is Halloween.

Always happens on weekend before Halloween at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. It counts with the performance of some of the most popular artists in dance music. In 2008 the public exceeded 60,000 people.

5. Sensation

Originally called Sensation White, the festival takes place since the first edition on the first Saturday of July in the Amsterdam Arena (and other countries during the year). It is known for its spectacular productions with acrobats, fireworks and lights. All ravers must wear only white and the arena is decorated accordingly.

The music played is primarily house music. About 30,000 regulars appear each year.

It also happens in Lisbon, St. Petersburg, Sao Paulo, London, Barcelona, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf.

4. Electric Daisy Carnival

The Electric Daisy Carnival is an annual two-day festival, with roller coasters, electronic music and people dancing day and night.

It is the largest electronic music event outside Europe.

In 2010, the EDC received 185,000 people!

The festival was performed at the Los Angeles Coliseum until 2010, when a young man of 15 years died of a drug overdose. As a result, from 2011 the festival has been to Las Vegas.

3. LovEvolution

A spin-off of the German Love Wall, this is the largest one-day electronic music event in the U.S. and attracts people from all over the world to the city of Oakland, CA.

Until 2012, the DJs played at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, after the LovEvolution parade cross the city. It is a party for all ages, and more than 120,000 people show up every year.

2. Boom Festival

The Boom Festival is a biennial event with one week duration and is situated on the banks of the lake of the dam Marechal Carmona in Idanha-a-Nova, Portugal.

A tribe of people from around the world led by the spirit of global culture take the Celebration as a way of changing and awareness raising.

Participants from 116 countries gathered at Boom 2012 to view and express a positive view of the present and future.

KaZantip Republic (or Z only) is the name of the larger, longer and more crazy techno festival, trance and house music in the world.

Lasts five to six weeks in the Ukrainian summer, attracting around 150,000 “ParadiZers” each edition.

It is known as the “East Woodstock.”

Each year the lineup is always announced shortly before the festival begins, but has already had names like Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox and Above & Beyond.
